Preface from the Curator

        From a historical point of view, after modernism, the form and material development of sculpture art has shown an extremely diverse pattern. Whether it is Rodin’s aesthetic style or Duchamp’s “fountain” concept, as an artistic expression of three-dimensional space, sculpture has a completely different aesthetic conceptions from flat painting in terms of image and medium.

        The Art Center at the National Chin-Yi University of Technology exhibits “Joint Exhibition of Three Artists: Blooming Branches and Spreading Leaves,” which is to introduce the beauty of three-dimensional sculpture into the campus, and hopes to add an artistic style different from the past flat painting to the campus. It offers more colorful art appreciation opportunities for teachers, students and citizens near the campus.

        In this “Joint Exhibition of Three Artists: Blooming Branches and Spreading Leaves” exhibition, we specially invite the well-known sculptor, Master Hsieh Tung-Liang, as well as Yu Den-Chuan and Chiu,Tai-Yang, who had been apprentices under Hsieh Tung-Liang when they were young, and are currently well-known sculptors. Hsieh Tung-Liang is very experienced in the field of sculpture creation and is a jury member of major art exhibitions.

        The “Sweeping Away Thousands of Troops” series expounds the illusion of yin and yang and virtual reality with great momentum. Yu Den-Chuan was the Review Committee Member of Cultural Affairs Bureau of Taichung Government. His art works are elegant. In this exhibition, his series of sculptures reveal the pure and happy mood, which is highly appreciated. Chiu,Tai-Yang has been an outstanding artist invited by international sculpture workshops in France and other countries. His works show the chess-as-life metaphor vividly and each piece inscribes the beauty and meaning upon the world.

    This “Joint Exhibition of Three Artists: Blooming Branches and Spreading Leaves” is an indicative exhibition organized by the National Chin Yi University of Technology Art Center after it officially became a first-level unit of the school this year. I would like to express my gratitude to Hsieh Tung-Liang, Chiu,Tai-Yang, and Yu Den-Chuan for being invited to exhibit their art works in our school.
