Preface from the Art Center

It has been three years since President Chen Wen-Yuan established National Chin-Yi University of Technology Art Center. Associate Professor Ni Yu-Shan planned out the first exhibition “The norm in the Tech-the Original Voice and Temperature of Human” in 2019. After that, the Art Center successively held eleven art exhibitions. These exhibitions have won the attention and recognition of the domestic art circle. The types of works included oil painting, ink painting, calligraphy, pottery, watercolor, glue color and so on. The artists invited to participate in the exhibition were from a wide variety of fields and with outstanding artistic achievement. President Chen Wen-Yuan, upholding the educational mind of loving and cherishing talents, offers brilliant artists two open calls every year to apply. The joint exhibition, "Telling the Exquisite Feelings", is the first exhibition in which the artists and their works are approved by the jury. It is hoped that, through showing great art works in different exhibitions, our students’ art appreciation ability can be cultivated.
The four artists in the joint exhibition, "
Telling the Exquisite Feelings ", are all ink painters. Their artworks can be described as having the creative spirit and style of contemporary ink painting. The style of their works breaks through the standard framework and is deeply rooted in the solid basic skills of traditional Chinese painting. Chung Li-Hsiang is an outstanding female artist of the contemporary middle-aged generation in Taiwan. She has won awards in many important national art competitions such as the Yushan Art Award, the Nanying Award and the Chung-Shan Youth Art Award. Her works displayed in this exhibition take plants and flowers as the objects of depiction. Through the observation of the natural world and the memory of beauty in her heart, she creates the paintings which demonstrate the beauty of female literati. Chen Yin-Ju’s works are mainly glue-colored paintings. He is good at using multi-color water-dry primers and scrubbing brushwork. The overall artistic conception is admirable, and the aesthetic situation of his work shows the passion for the artistic life. Chang Yue-Huai tends to take lotus flowers, strange stones, lush trees and grasses, and deserted streets as the objects of his paintings. He uses solid ink and wash techniques, along with his delicate thoughts and brushwork, to demonstrate modesty and compassion. His works have been shortlisted for the Chung-Shan Youth Art Awards in 2019 and 2020. The huge work "The Floating World in the Fence" has even won the art circle honor of the 2020 Chung-Shan Youth Art Award for Ink and Wash Works. Chang Yue-Huai can be regarded as one of the outstanding new generation artists with both talent and diligence. Weng Huai-Yi’s works are primarily based on spiritual interpretations of thinking. The work "Sky Garden - A" is presented through the cognitive reconstruction of a spiritual garden that was sacred and unknown in the sixth century Assyrian period. It shows the image space of the artist's own spiritual belonging in Taiwan.

National Chin-Yi University of Technology Art Center has selected the works of the above-mentioned four outstanding artists for the exhibition "Telling the Exquisite Feelings". We welcome artists from all over the country to apply for the open calls, so that our students’ and the surrounding residents’ humanistic vision can be broadened. Finally, I would like to wish the success of "Telling the Exquisite Feelings", and thank all the members of the jury committee for their selection of these great works.
