Preface from the Curator

The Art Center of National Chin-Yi University of Technology was officially launched in May 2019. The first exhibition, common days of technology- voices and temperature of human arts, was organized by Prof. Ni Yu-shan in the General Education College. Since then, the center has held various types of exhibitions. This year is the 50^th anniversary of the university. The art center invited five elite painters in “Taiwan Art Society of Taichung City”, an important art association in Taiwan, to open a series of celebrating events for the anniversary.  

        Taiwan Art Society of Taichung City is the first painter association in central Taiwan. It was founded by well-known painters such as Lin, Zhi-zhu, Yang, Qi-dong, Lu, Fou-ting, Chen, Xia-yu, and Yen, shui-long as well as elites in Taichung back in 1954. The first central Taiwan art exhibition was grandly held in the Central Bookstore. Since then, Taiwan Art Society of Taichung City has propelled art to burgeon in the central Taiwan and helped the diverse development of Taiwan find arts. This time, the Art Center of National Chin-Yi University of Technology particularly invited five distinguished painters in the association, including former president of Taiwan Art Society of Taichung City, Ni, Chao-long, the incumbent president, Liao, Pen-Sheng, the incumbent secretary-general, Liu, Zhe-zhi, and two key female painters, Chen, Mei-hui and Huang, Qiu-yue. Ni, Chao-long has devoted his life to education. He served as the professor at National Taichung University of Education and Asia University and the principal of the Affiliated Experimental Elementary School of National Taichung University of Education. He has also made extraordinary achievements in art creation and art promotion. The paintings of Ni, Chao-long have transformed from an early abstract expression into a concrete style, with a wide range of themes covering Taiwanese local customs and overseas travel sketches. When the painting market took off in Taiwan in the early 1990s, Liao, Pen-Sheng, the president, was already quite well-known. His paintings were throbbing and poetic, and they were highly collected by galleries and collectors. Chen, Mei-hui, Huang, Qiu-yue, and Liu, Zhe-zhi are the painters recommended for joint exhibition. Their paintings are also unique in style, with deep abstract beauty in color and structure, and they are all outstanding.  

        The Art Center of National Chin-Yi University of Technology organized the “2021 Exhibition: Exhibition of Five Members from Taiwan Art Society of Taichung City”, which will exhibit a total of 19 oil paintings, each of which is a meticulous work of each artist. The Art Center not only shares the wonderful artistic experience with all teachers, students and community residents of our school, but also congratulates the 50^th anniversary of National Chin-Yi University of Technology by this exhibition. We hope the youth of the students resonates here, the teaching of the teachers is accumulated here, and the school fortune of our school will continue to prosper.
